How to carry out anti-corrosion treatment after the completion of box column production
After the production of the box column is completed, anti-corrosion treatment is a key step to ensure its long-term stability and durability. Here are some common anti-corrosion treatment methods:
1、 Surface pretreatment
1. Cleaning the surface: Firstly, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the surface of the box column to remove impurities such as oil stains, rust, and old coatings. This can be achieved through methods such as sandblasting, shot blasting, or chemical cleaning to ensure that the coating can firmly adhere to the substrate.
2. Inspection and handling of defects: Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the box column, and promptly repair any defects such as cracks or air holes found. The repair material should have good compatibility with the substrate to ensure that the repaired area has sufficient strength and corrosion resistance.
2、 Coating anti-corrosion
1. Choose anti-corrosion coating: Select the appropriate anti-corrosion coating based on the environmental conditions and usage requirements of the box column. Common anti-corrosion coatings include epoxy paint, polyurethane paint, chlorinated rubber paint, etc. These coatings have excellent corrosion resistance, adhesion, and durability.
2. Apply primer: Apply primer on the cleaned surface of the box column. The main function of primer is to enhance the adhesion between the coating and the substrate, and provide a good foundation for the subsequent topcoat. When applying the primer, it should be evenly and completely applied to avoid any omissions or excessive thickness.
3. Apply topcoat: After the primer is dry, apply the topcoat. Topcoat not only has an aesthetic effect, but also further improves the corrosion resistance of the coating. When painting the topcoat, attention should be paid to controlling the thickness and uniformity of the coating to ensure that it meets the design requirements.
3、 Electrochemical anti-corrosion
In some special cases, such as when the box column is in harsh environments such as high humidity and high salt spray, electrochemical anti-corrosion methods can be considered. For example, adding active metal powders such as zinc powder to the coating to form a micro battery effect and provide cathodic protection for the substrate. This method can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of the coating and extend the service life of the box column.
4、 Other anti-corrosion measures
1. Hot dip galvanizing: For box columns that require higher corrosion resistance, hot-dip galvanizing treatment can be used. This method immerses the box shaped column into molten zinc liquid, causing metallurgical bonding between zinc and the substrate, forming a dense layer of zinc iron alloy. This alloy layer has very high corrosion resistance and can protect the substrate from corrosion for a long time.
2. Spraying anti-corrosion materials: In addition to traditional anti-corrosion coatings, modern construction methods such as spraying can also be used. Spraying anti-corrosion materials has the advantages of fast construction speed and uniform coating, and is suitable for anti-corrosion treatment of large-area and complex shaped box columns.
5、 Maintenance and Inspection
Regular inspection and maintenance of box columns after anti-corrosion treatment is also an important measure to ensure their long-term corrosion resistance. The inspection content includes whether the coating is complete, whether there is peeling, cracking, and other conditions; And whether there are signs of corrosion on the substrate. Once any abnormal situation is discovered, timely measures should be taken to repair or replace it.
