PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A Heavy Structural Steel Beam is a critical load-bearing component designed for extreme bending and shear forces, fabricated from high-grade heavy-gauge structural steel (thickness ≥ 16mm, e.g., Q355, Q460, ASTM A572, A633, S460JR). Typical configurations include welded plate girders, hot-rolled I-beams, and box-section beams, characterized by large cross-sections (web height ≥ 600mm, flange width ≥ 200mm) and robust profiles. As the primary horizontal load-bearing member in heavy steel engineering, it serves as the backbone of super high-rises, long-span bridges, heavy-industry plants, and large public structures—addressing load demands that exceed the capacity of standard steel beams.

The core advantage lies in superior bending capacity and structural rigidity: crafted from high-tensile steel grades, heavy structural steel beams efficiently withstand bending moments exceeding 50,000kN·m and shear forces up to 10,000kN, enabling spans of 20-60 meters without intermediate supports. Their optimized cross-sectional design (thickened flanges, reinforced webs) minimizes deflection and buckling, ensuring stability under static loads (e.g., building floors, bridge decks) and dynamic loads (e.g., industrial machinery, traffic vibrations). Compared to concrete beams, they offer an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio (1/3 lighter), reducing overall structural load while delivering higher durability and fatigue resistance in harsh environments.

Key features include precision heavy fabrication: welded plate girders are manufactured via CNC cutting, plate assembly, and submerged arc welding, with strict quality control through non-destructive testing (ultrasonic, radiographic inspection) to ensure weld integrity. Hot-rolled variants undergo high-temperature forming for uniform material properties. On-site installation involves modular  (hoisting) and bolted/welded connections to columns or supports, ensuring rigid load transfer. Corrosion protection is achieved through hot-dip galvanization, epoxy coal tar coatings, or weathering steel, extending service life to 70+ years in coastal, industrial, or outdoor settings. Fire-resistant treatments (intumescent coatings, concrete encasement) enhance safety compliance with building codes.

Typical applications span super high-rise building floor beams, long-span bridge main girders, heavy-industry plant crane runways, large stadium roof trusses, and offshore platform crossbeams. As a core component of heavy steel engineering, the heavy structural steel beam balances extreme load performance, structural safety, and design flexibility, enabling the realization of ambitious large-scale projects that push the boundaries of architectural and industrial engineering.
